On Salty Behavior...
Hey all, time for serious talk.
Lately, we've noticed that salty behavior is starting to creep into Tilia and make the game a lot less fun for others. While Tilia is a competitive game and some salt is expected, players are still expected to maintain proper sportsmanship. Excessive saltiness creates a toxic environment, where fun is replaced by clashing egos and bullying.
To be clear, it's okay to be unhappy you missed a high quality spawn ("Oh fuck, I missed a Garchompo.") However, it's NOT okay to bully the person who caught it, nor is it okay to seek pity points and whine about how it's unfair for people to catch things. Nobody is "obligated" to leave a spawn, even if it's something they already have - you can still catch things for trades or selling on the black market. Remember, no matter how valuable a spawn is, it will keep spawning forever, which means eventually everyone should get a reasonable chance at it.
As the staff of Tilia, our goal is to maintain a healthy environment for the game. Towards that end, we are going to start considering heavy punishments - including permanent bans - for excessive saltiness and poor sportsmanship. While this may seem strict, it is necessary to preserve a game that we all want to play. Nobody will want to play a game where bullying and whining follow every high quality spawn, except for the most aggressive egos. We'd be left with a game that isn't fun and isn't interesting, and it will die an agonizing death. Those are the stakes. We hope you appreciate our take on this.
Remember, as well, that older players have a special responsibility to be role models for newer players. We've gained several new players since the latest round of Rapidash Trivia, and we hope that the game is inviting and interesting for newer players. That means ensuring that even the heartbreak of missing a good spawn is handled with grace. Let's all work together to build a healthy community.
